Is it John McCain or Barack Obama ?
At the moment , McCain has taken a narrow lead over Obama. The election is barely less than two months away and McCain seems to be the hot favourite and with the Palin factor , the picture is complete.
He has an overwhelming advantage in experience ,with nearly three decades in Congress and appeal to those working class and suburban whites, with men and senior citizens and rural residents. A poll showed that he has eighty percent of those polled who believed he has the credentials to be a President while only forty six percent for Obama.
I would agree with this poll that Obama lacks the the critical and tactical experience factor and all that has come out are plenty of rhetorics and wishy and washy comments. It is hard to believe someone who promised much but may not deliver on those promises.
Though the Republicans under Bush is very unpopular but many believed that McCain will chart a different course. This is all about perceptions. The master stroke of McCain's campaign was in picking a younger ,vivacious and tough woman to be his VP.
The electorates must be tired of McCain and Obama in their run up during their party primaries and with this fresh face ,hard hitting pit bull ,she has galvanized alot of white women over to her side., even supporters of Clinton.
Women make up almost 50 % of the voters and anyone who disregard this group will surely regret their actions. Times have changed and a male / female team would be far more appealing to a wider section of the electorate.
The victor should have been more magnanimous and chose the loser to heal the wounds in the party or it would split the party support and it can be sizable come election day.
Initially, I thought the Democrats have a better chance in Obama and Clinton but with Obama choosing Joe Biden, the odds of them winning have decreased.
What would happen had Clinton won, would she chose Obama? This is just speculative only and you will have to ask her for that answer.
Anyhow, she lost in the bid and is now history. America is not ready yet for a woman president or specifically the Democrats would rather prefer a black to make history than a woman.
The baton is now passed on to Sarah Palin who could be the most powerful women in the world
's most powerful country.
If by some quirk of fate, she may end up as the President of the USA . We will have to wait and see if this event will come to pass.
